Natural areas to visit in the surroundings of Santa Rosalía
Sandbanks and salt flats of San Pedro. The first natural area that we can visit are the sandbanks and salt flats of San Pedro. Located to only 15 minutes in car of the resort, it is a very important space in the region and in the zone of the Mar Menor, since, we can find in him numerous species of birds, with an extension of 856 hectares, in which up to 6 kilometers are of Mediterranean coast. Cabezo Gordo. Another natural area that you can visit near Santa Rosalia is Cabezo Gordo, located in the province of Torre Pacheco, just 15 minutes away by car. It is a protected area where you can find different tourist attractions, such as numerous caves that you can visit thanks to the guided tours organized by the town hall of Torre Pacheco.
In this landscape, you can also find a mountain that is 312 meters above sea level and has a length of about 3 kilometers. Besides visiting it, it is interesting to know how this landscape and this mountain were formed, since the history of this area began in the Triassic period, that is to say, approximately 250 million years ago.
Calblanque Regional Park. Another natural area that can be visited, although it is a little further away from Santa Rosalía, is the Regional Park of Calblanque, which is located between Cabo de Palos and Portmán. In this natural park we can find a great diversity of environments, since, you can find a great variety of areas to visit, from wadis, dunes, wadis, coves and even cliffs. In addition, you can visit an endorheic basin located in the Salinas de Rasall.
